Marlene grew up on a ranch/farm on the eastern plains of Colorado. Her mother, sisters, and sister’s in law each had a part in influencing her in becoming a teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bob Jones University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Regis University. Her 30+ years of teaching has included second grade, Jr. High girls track coach, Title 1, Elementary Music, but her favorite has been Kindergarten. She also works in the Children’s Ministry at the church where her husband pastors. She and her husband love the people of Pagosa and the many outdoor activities the area offers. Her favorite time of year is when her three children, their spouses, and three granddaughters come for a visit from Maui, Dallas, and Denver. Her favorite quote is “my teacher thought I was smarter than I was, so I was”.
