Bio

Welcome to 3rd grade! I’m sure most of you are wondering, “Who is this Mr. Wolford guy?” The best way to get to know me is to come in and talk with me. If you’re like most parents, you don’t have a lot of “chat-time,” so I’ll give you the basic bio:

I was born in Fayetteville North Carolina, on an Army Base (Ft. Bragg). We lived there for a few years then moved to sunny Southern California (Riverside County), where I spent a huge portion of my childhood.

Half way through high school, the family moved to Philadelphia PA (huge culture shock!). I lived there before joining the Worlds-Finest-Navy, where I served for six years as a Navy Diver on board the USS Topeka (fast attack submarine).

After I served in the NAVY, I attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I received my BA in Spanish/Elementary Education.

My personal mission statements:

“As a teacher, my job is to help students realize how special, rare, and valuable, each one really is. Each student has something that no one else has, or ever will have. They have something inside them that is truly unique. It is my responsibility to encourage each student to discover their uniqueness and to provide ways of developing their own intellectual expression.”

When I’m not teaching you can typically find me running around Turkey Springs with my two dogs (Abi & Oli) and my beautiful wife, Lauren (also a teacher at Pagosa Elementary).

Thank you for giving me the chance to serve your family. If you would like to know more about my teaching philosophy, or who I am as an educator, don’t hesitate to stop by. My door is always open.
