I grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and Colorado Springs, CO. Following my CSU graduation, I moved to Oregon with my now husband, married, earned a Masters degree, welcomed two great kids 18 months apart, worked in a variety of teaching and coaching positions including self-contained 6th grade, International School kindergarten teacher, Dual Language 1st grade English teacher, non-profit contract teacher and gymnastics coach before deciding to return to Colorado after nearly ten years away. My family chose Pagosa Springs because of the beautiful outdoor opportunities and proximity to our extended Colorado family. I am a family girl, you can find me with my husband, Ryan and kids River and Nora Paisley (along with a new puppy) watching soccer games, riding bikes and snowboards and retreating to warm water ocean riding as often as possible. I enjoy making art, yoga, tacos, baking, music, reading, gardening and 6 am crossfit.
About my classroom:
My classroom is run with Love and Logic using a discovery approach to teaching. My passions in the classroom are math and science but one of the reasons I love teaching second grade is that I see the transition between 'learning to read and reading to learn.' This is my 5th year teaching 2nd grade (my 11th year teaching) and each year I am reaffirmed that 2nd grade is simply the best!
