Special Education Aide

Bio:
Ms. Joetta is a 6th generation Pagosa Springs native who grew up with three brothers, all who attended k-12 in the Archuleta County Schools. Ms. Joetta graduated high school in 2002 and immediately hired on with what was the Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) as a Summer Technician.  She attended Colorado State University in the fall of 2002 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Biology in 2008.  Joetta always looked forward to coming back home in the summers and continuing on as a Summer Technician for the CDOW.

After college Ms. Joetta moved with her fiancee to Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Ms. Joetta was hired by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD) prior to graduating college to work as a Wildlife Biologist Technician for Larimer County, Wyoming, based out of the WGFD headquarters office.

Ms. Joetta found her love of teaching when she volunteered for teaching Hunter Education classes for a wide variety of students from older youth to older adults.  Eventually, Ms. Joetta would end her time with the WGFD as the Administrative Assistant, helping coordinate Hunter Education classes across the state of Wyoming.

Ms. Joetta moved back to Pagosa Springs in July of 2014, after the loss of her grandmother.  Family is very important to Ms. Joetta, and her husband and she decided they had been away from home and family long enough.  Ms. Joetta and her husband are now raising three boys of their own.  Ms. Joetta also has two step-sons, a step-daughter and step-granddaughter.

Ms. Joetta was hired as an Instructional Aide with the elementary school starting the fall semester of 2014.  She worked with all grade levels.  In November of 2014, Ms. Joetta accepted a full time Instructional Aide position in the Special Needs Center Based Program in the elementary school where she worked for five years.  Ms. Joetta moved to a Special Education Para Professional position in the elementary school in the Fall of 2019.

Favorites and Things:
Ms. Joetta's family has two ranches outside of town where she likes to take her three boys to work cows, build fence, shed hunt, play in the river, ride four-wheelers and enjoy doing anything outside.  Any chance her family gets in the summer, they like to take their boat out to Navajo Lake and water-ski, wake-board, tube and fish.  Ms. Joetta loves camping, hunting, fishing, reading, and the wonderful sport of wrestling.  When school is out, Ms. Joetta and her boys look traveling with their dad/her husband while he is on the road working with Union Pacific Railroad.
