Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Southeastern Colorado. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with her Bachelors in Elementary Education in 2003. She taught second grade for five years at Frontier Academy in Greeley, CO. She and her husband moved to Nebraska in 2008 for his new job and she taught first grade at Jefferson Elementary for 3 years. After another move in 2011, Mrs. Smith decided to stay home with her daughter and welcomed a son in 2012 to complete their family of four. They moved to Pagosa Springs to be closer to her parents in 2016. Since then she has been a dedicated classroom volunteer and substitute teacher as time has allowed and is excited to get back into the classroom now that her kids are both in school.
She enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, baking, Pinterest, and supporting the school through Partners in Education.
