Mrs. Sabreena Schofield

Mrs. Sabreena Carruth was born in Grand Junction and raised in Round Rock, Texas and back to Grand Junction, Colorado, spending most of her time being involved in school activities, and doing Student Senate throughout middle school and high school.  She has always enjoyed learning in school and adored working with children. Ms. Carruth attended the University of Northern Colorado to study elementary education and reading, earning Summa Cum Laude and receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Rather than continuing on the traditional route, she eagerly decided to pursue a career in children’s ministry. Ms. Carruth worked with a ministry in a trailer park home as the programs director for after school and summer programs. She then worked at a preschool as both the ministry teacher and a preschool teacher. Ms. Carruth has experience working with infants through high schoolers in various ways and has adopted a childlike sense of wonder because of it. Ms. Carruth believes that a classroom should be a safe, caring community where every student is free to express themselves and grow to become their best selves. A classroom should be a positive environment where students feel welcome, supported, and believed in, which will help them feel confident and safe to learn, grow, and take risks. Ms. Carruth also believes her role as a teacher is to make students feel seen and valued every single day.  There is infinite value in paying ridiculously close attention to students and really listening and connecting to them.

Ms. Carruth loves living in such a beautiful place where she can hike, paddle board, rollerblade, hammock, and enjoy the mountains and sunshine! Ms. Carruth loves to be active, whether working out or getting to explore the world around her. She believes our bodies were made to move and be taken care of. Ms. Carruth has a photobooth rental business and is excited to grow that! Ms. Carruth loves being a second grade teacher!
